One of the areas of search that never fails to interest me is seasonal search variations. We are working on a project for a Christmas Decoration client and watching the search volumes rise exponentially as we move towards Christmas. We are anticipating that volume will peak c. 10th December at c. 10 times what we are seeing at present (early November). To compound this increase we are also anticipating that this traffic will convert at c. 2x its current level as the customer “buys faster” due to the proximity of Christmas.
Contrast this to another client selling wheelbarrows where the market peaked in the Spring. In gardening volumes rise steadily from January onwards peaking in the Spring and then decline hard across the Autumn towards Christmas.
