At the end of 2018, we discovered that SearchStar had been given a 2* Best Company Index (BCI) score. That meant that we’ve achieved ‘outstanding’ levels of employee engagement and that SearchStar, as hoped, is a pretty good place to work.

But it also turns out that our 2* score (727.4 points) was fantastic enough to fire us straight to 13th on the list of the best companies to work for in the South West! To place so highly in the 75-strong list at the first time of asking shows that our efforts to create an engaging and exciting workplace are paying off. However, we won't rest on our laurels either...

Donna Moore, Operations Director at SearchStar, said:

“Every year we conduct a staff survey, which helps us better understand what our employees like about SearchStar and what frustrates them. We then use the responses to shape positive change within the agency.

The results are generally fantastic, but this year we wanted to take things a step further and set a marker in the sand - something quantifiable, repeatable and truly anonymous.

This is the first year we’ve asked the team to complete the b-Heard survey and it feels great to have achieved a 2* rating. But, of course, we’ll be looking at ways of improving and hope to bring it up to the full 3 stars by 2020.”

What is RBCI?

The Regional Best Companies Index (RBCI) is the most rigorous way of measuring engagement. Using the Best Companies b-Heard Survey, employees are asked to score 70 statements on a 7 point scale from ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree’.

Organisations require 30 or more survey responses in a region to be eligible. The results are then calculated from the responses to 49 scoring statements aligned to the 8 Factors of Workplace Engagement. The final score is normalised for company size band and calculated out of 1000.
